Antje Blumenstein

Antje Blumenstein's work is divided into series and groups of works in which, in addition to a wide variety of materials and techniques, various topics and questions are dealt with. With her current works, the artist concentrates on the basic elements of abstract art: lines, surfaces and colors, dominated by reduction and clear formal composition.
The works from her “lines B” series each consist of four acrylic glass panels in two different colors and subtly milled lines, placed a few centimeters apart. The closer the viewer gets to the fluorescent wall works, the more space appears in the colored surfaces.
The reflection in the reflection, the interaction of the lines, the gradations of the color shadows and the effect of the radiation on the wall testify to Blumenstein's questioning of surface, space and line.
Reduction and a clear formal composition dominate in her works made of paper. In the group of white paper works “Five Lines”, five lines can always be seen, which result from folds and lines applied with a pencil. Spatiality is created here by the play of light and shadow on the relief-like surfaces.
After studying graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, she studied painting and graphics at the HfBK Dresden as a master student with Prof. Eberhard Bosslet.

Blumenstein's artworks are part of Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, Kunstfonds, and numerous private collections such as Collection Grauwinkel, Berlin; Collection Schroth, Soest; Hanten-Schmidt Collection Cologne/Dresden/Vienna, Krieger Collection, Berlin.
