Anton Quiring
Sheet metal, chipboard, grinding wheels, concrete, aluminium and copper pipes, plastic, varnish - the materials Anton Quiring mainly works with are industrially manufactured, simple and familiar to the viewer. A special fascination emanates from the deep black, velvety surfaces of specially produced carbon pigments, which are continuously repeated in his work. Broken edges of the smallest splinters sparkle like crystals in the darkness.
His minimalist, sometimes space-consuming works, which are developed for the respective exhibition venue, are always to be understood as an overall composition, in which the individual exhibit has an effect on the space, as well as the space on the individual work. In this way, the artist creates connections between the work and the space and also between the materials used. These bring with them specific properties, some rigid, some flexible, which change the original form through his treatment and are thus transferred into the artistic context. The formal language is also minimalist - line, circle, square and rectangle appear most frequently. This simplicity possesses a poetry, it directs the view beyond pure materiality so that a poetic-philosophical resonance space is created.
In addition to the reference to physical space, the works hint at a spiritual-creative attitude with which Anton Quiring refers to social conditions along the edges of rupture.
